Personal Branding Photography in Philadelphia: How to Tell Your Brand Story in One Session
If you’re a founder, creative, or career professional in Philadelphia, your photos are often the first impression people have of you—on your website, LinkedIn, and social media. But most people are still using a mix of old headshots, cropped group photos, and random iPhone snaps that don’t match the level of their work.nicholemchphotography+2
That’s exactly why I created my Brand Story personal branding sessions at ArtChick® Studio in Callowhill: a focused, editorial‑style photoshoot that gives you a cohesive visual story in just a few hours.
What is personal branding photography?
Personal branding photography goes beyond a single headshot. It’s a collection of images that show who you are, what you do, and how you work—so your audience can recognize you instantly across your website, social media, and marketing.
Think of it as your own mini editorial: portraits, lifestyle images, behind‑the‑scenes moments, and detail shots that all feel like you, not a generic stock library.
Who a Brand Story session is for
At ArtChick® Studio, my Brand Story sessions are designed for people who are actively building something and need their visuals to keep up.
These sessions are perfect for:
Solo entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to look polished and approachable online.
Creatives and content creators who need a variety of looks for launches, collaborations, and social media.
Professionals and executives who are ready to update stiff, dated headshots with images that actually match their current role.
What’s included in a Brand Story session
A Brand Story session at my Philadelphia studio is a 3‑hour, guided experience focused on creating a complete image library—not just one hero shot.
Here’s what you can expect:
Up to 3 hours of shoot time in studio (and, if we plan for it, nearby Philly locations).
Multiple wardrobe changes so we can capture professional, lifestyle, and more editorial looks in one session.
A mix of portraits, candid‑feeling branding imagery, and detail shots tailored to how you’ll actually use them.
A curated proofing gallery and a set of fully retouched, high‑resolution files ready for web and print.
How we plan your personal branding photoshoot
Successful branding photos aren’t random—they’re planned. Before you ever step in front of the camera, we’ll do a quick planning call so I can understand your brand, your goals, and where these images will live.
Together we’ll:
Clarify your visual direction—modern, approachable, bold, minimal, editorial, or a mix.
Build a simple mood board for poses, lighting, and locations so we’re shooting with intention.
Choose outfits and props that feel natural to how you actually work (laptop, sketchbook, product samples, camera, etc.).
This is the same process I use for commercial and fashion clients, adapted for personal brands so you get that high‑production feel without needing a full team.
What to wear and bring
Most clients are surprised by how much variety we can create with a tight, intentional wardrobe plan.
I generally recommend:
3–5 outfits that show different sides of your brand: a polished look, a relaxed/lifestyle look, and something more creative or bold.
Neutral pieces that layer well, plus one or two pops of color that align with your brand palette.
Props that represent your work: laptop, notebooks, sketchbooks, product samples, books, camera gear, or anything your clients would recognize you using.
If you’re unsure, you can always bring a few extra options and we’ll refine your final looks together at the studio.
Where we shoot in Philadelphia
ArtChick® Studio is located in the Callowhill neighborhood, just outside Center City, and is designed with branding sessions in mind: clean backgrounds, directional light, and room to move and change looks efficiently.
Depending on your brand, we can also step outside for a city‑feel—industrial textures, classic Philly streets, or simple urban backdrops that keep the focus on you.
What it’s like to work with me
Most people tell me they’re “not photogenic” or feel awkward in front of the camera before they arrive. That’s my job to fix—not yours.
Throughout your session, I’ll direct you through poses, angles, and micro‑adjustments so you know exactly what to do with your hands, posture, and expression. I pull from my fashion and commercial experience to create images that feel elevated but still like the real you—confident, relaxed, and connected to your brand story.
How you can use your branding photos
Your Brand Story gallery is meant to work hard for you.
Clients use their images for:
Website homepages, About pages, and Services pages.
LinkedIn and other professional profiles.
Social media content, launches, and evergreen posts.
Media kits, speaking engagements, press features, and podcast guesting.
Because we shoot with variety in mind, you’ll have both hero images and smaller supporting visuals you can repurpose for months.
